During the height of the Classic Era, few auto manufacturers could match the elegance and innovation of the companies under E.L. Cord’s fast-growing business empire. His cornerstone enterprise, of course, was Auburn, which Cord famously transformed into a manufacturer of stylish performers at a reasonable price point.

This Auburn was subject to a no expense spared, high-quality restoration in 2006-2007 by renowned pre-war specialists, Stone Barn Restorations. Equipped with the famed Lycoming V-12 engine that produces 160 bhp it sports a three-speed manual transmission and a Columbia two-speed rear axle that combine together to make these Auburns easily capable of achieving highway speeds.

Resplendent in black with yellow highlights this speedster is fitted with dual cowl lights and trumpet horns as well as dual metal covered side-mounted spares. The interior is fitted with black leather upholstery and black carpets with yellow piping that complements the exterior. The fully-instrumented dash panel is beautifully engine turned and this example features a disappearing black canvas top and chrome wire wheels shod in blackwall tires.

It is believed that this example originally started out as an Auburn 12 Sedan and at some point throughout its life the sedan body was replaced with an original Auburn 8 Speedster body.

This CCCA Full Classic would be a welcome participant at all Auburn Cord Duesenberg (ACD) Club events and would most certainly garner attention at any show it attended, making it an excellent addition to any collection.
